de_welfare_square is a custom Counter-Strike map by Shawn Olson, a photojournalist and web developer from Columbus, Ohio, USA. It is a bomp map for up to 32 players.

This map is a remake of de_weldonsquare, a small Bomb map also built by Shawn Olson. This version is larger and more complex than de_weldonsuare. The map name in the accompanying zip file is de_welfare_square_rc3 (release candidate 3). A final version will be out sometime in the summer of 2007. After this map is finalized, older versions will be removed from public downloads.

Installation

Installation is simple. Unzip all the contents of this folder to your cstrike folder. For example, you will unzip it to a directory similar to this:

C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/mySteamUserName/counter-strike/cstrike/

That should be all that you need to start playing this map. For dedicated servers, the address ought to be similar to the following:

C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/mySteamUserName/dedicated server/cstrike/

The above examples are for Steam versions running on Windows.

Terrorists are trying to stop
the Wall Worm Clan from making any
new maps by blowing up the Wall
Worm neighborhood.

Terrorists: Our point men have already
marked the homes to bomb with copies
of the local newspaper at the doorstep.
Be wary of security cameras and snipers.
Use a securty camera controlled from your
spawn to see if the central area is clear.

Counter-Terrorists: Protect the Wall Worm
neighborhood from the terrorist. There are
some computers linked to security cameras
outside both bombsites. Unfortunately, the
control computer for Bombsite B camera is
not in the same building as the bombsite...
we ran out of money for a new computer
to put there.

make a final version of this map.

(It never got to my personal completion phase because of a hard-drive crash a couple years ago... so learn from my mistakes.)
